Sora, Seoul

"During the work, you have to be sure that you haven't left any holes, that you've captured everything, because afterwards it will be too late." - Henri Cartier-Bresson

I hardly ever take candid shots but quite often I photograph people and think to myself immediately after that they (and what they were wearing) looked really good when I first saw them walking along the street and I sometimes wish that I could have captured that moment. So, this time I got a few shots just prior to stopping and asking Sora for her photograph and also while I frantically (as always!) tried to find a background to photograph her against. It was also super windy and I wasn't sure whether the skirt would cooperate or whether I'd find a sheltered enough spot to take the photo. But luckily for me, I found this brick wall (there are a lot of brick walls in Seoul!) and it came out just fine.

This photo of Shu was featured in this week's Readers' Street Style section of the New York Times where the theme was Bomber & Varsity Jackets. You can see this photo and the rest of the slideshow here. Have a great weekend everyone!

Hani Cho, Seoul

I get a lot of inspiration from the people I shoot on the streets and I love what I'm seeing as we move right into the midst of Spring here in Seoul. For me, Spring dressing is about light layering, light knitwear, light jackets and blazers, and a touch of color added into the mix. It's nice to be back in Spring, nice to see the sun go down and the evenings get cooler, and right now it's nice to see the ground littered with cherry blossoms!

"Red is obviously such a stimulating color, and it has so many connotations." - P.J. Harvey

I haven't noticed a lot of color, or rather bright and bold color, around the streets of Seoul so naturally I was quite attracted to this red blazer when I saw it. I'm not sure why that's the case because the colors are definitely out there, I mean just look in the background of this picture and there's the brightest pink you can imagine. But right now, it's the black and the more neutral or muted tones that are striking me. Though we've only been here for 5 days, so perhaps we're still just finding our feet and getting used to being in a new city, where nothing is familiar and there's so much to take in and learn. We'll just have to see!

Xavier, Taipei

We arrived in Seoul yesterday evening to a crisp 9 degrees and I must say it was quite refreshing after the couple of stinking hot days we had in Taipei just before we left. I can now understand it when people in Taipei say that it gets hot and humid there especially in the summer and I'm really glad that I don't have to experience that! I much prefer the more transitional weather, which is what we got for the most part of Taipei, the sort of weather where you can comfortably wear two, three or four layers. I would love to live in a place where all year round it was this constant transition from either winter to spring, or summer to fall. I'm not sure such a place exists, but if it did, that would be just perfect!

Jessica, Taipei

"Hair style is the final tip-off whether or not a woman really knows herself." - Hubert de Givenchy

I love Jessica's style and I'm so jealous of her beautiful, long, wavy hair that falls perfectly and does everything that my hair does not. Jessica works at a Café in ShiDa and I always see her riding her bicycle down the street to pick up afternoon tea and drinks. I would love to capture her on her bike one day!

On another note, I know I'm probably a little late on this, but I've just started up a Pinterest page! You can check it out here and follow my pins if you like!
