Da Hee Yoo, Seoul

With street style photography, a lot of the time it's just stop people on the street, ask for their photo, take the photo, get their name and the whole thing is over in about one or two minutes. Then we both go our separate ways with the likelihood that I will never cross paths with that person again. And with Seoul being such a huge and populated city, I have very rarely seen the same person twice in the time that I've been here.

I was photographing another girl in Garosugil when I saw Da Hee walk past out the corner of my eye. After I had finished, I was looking at my iPhone when she came up to me and said that I had photographed her in Hongdae. I recognized the face straight away (couldn't recall the name of course!) and I remembered the beautiful striking blue pants that she was wearing when I took her photo about a month ago. Da Hee is a make up artist and it was really nice to bump into her again and get her photo a second time. I love her style and it's what I want to see more of in Seoul - striking colors, simple but elegant dressing, and she's just the friendly type of person who I enjoyed chatting with and getting to know. So we stood on the side of the road and talked for a bit and then we both went our separate ways. Who knows if we'll cross paths again?

StyleSophomore on Instagram

I'm probably the last person to jump on board the Instagram craze, but I've finally created my own Instagram account! I didn't realize how addictive it is and now I just want to take lots and lots of photos and turn them into pretty pictures to share! I recommend anyone with an iPhone to do the same because it's such a great and easy way to share photos. So, if you want a little nosey into my life and the things I see, eat, or do in between street style shooting, then you can follow me @ StyleSophomore. Hope everyone has a great week ahead!

Regina, Taipei

"She was the most beautiful creature on Earth - her hair said so in that language that only hair can speak." - Gabriel Bá

I really envy people who have such beautiful, thick, long hair like Regina has here.  I mean my hair is thick (in fact way too thick) and it's getting long, but it also has this annoying wave through it which means that my hair is neither curly nor straight and makes doing anything to it incredibly difficult. I remember a hairdresser telling me once that my hair grows outwards from the scalp rather than downwards, so just think afro in it's natural state and you'll get the idea. I'm sure those with the same type of hair will agree that it is the worst type of hair to have ever! For me, this picture is all about the hair. The way it sweeps across her forehead, the way it falls so evenly over her shoulders, and just the way it brings the whole outfit together.

Pearl, Taipei

This is Pearl in Taipei and a shot of me in action while at the same time hoping not to get run over by all the scooters passing by. It's just one of a whole heap of shots that I dug out of the "Stacey taking photos" folder, all photos that James took of me in Taipei and ones to potentially go into our behind-the-scenes-of-streetstyle-photography book, which I'm happy to say is coming together quite nicely. The book is still on track to come out in November this year and I'm so excited to see the finished product. Will keep you updated! Have a fantastic weekend everyone!

Mai, Seoul

Wherever we travel in Asia, it's almost certain that I will end up meeting and photographing Japanese people every now and again. I mean it's really no surprise considering the Japanese love to travel and they always have such great style whether they're on holiday or not. And it's a real pleasure to meet and chat with them because they're always so easy going, so happy to have their photograph taken and they just seem to totally get it. It really makes my day and I'm so excited to be spending time again in Tokyo next month. It'll be my 5th time there and I really can't wait!

Cindy, Seoul

It's not often that I bump into fellow kiwis on my travels throughout Asia so it was a pleasure to meet the lovely Cindy and her boyfriend in Garosugil today. Cindy's actually from Taipei, Taiwan but she grew up in New Zealand and went to school and university in Auckland, which is my hometown! So she's pretty much a kiwi in my mind and has got that wonderful kiwi accent that I miss from back home (and I know I miss it cos I find I can't stop listening to it when I hear it now!).

On other notes, the weather gods have been playing it nice and instead of the forecasted thunderstorms that have supposed to have hit us this week, we've had nothing but warm weather, slightly overcast days and the odd show of sunshine. I'm definitely not complaining, it's the perfect weather to be out taking photographs! Plus it makes up for the fact that today not only did my handbag strap completely break off, but my iPhone also decided to delete all the names of the people I photographed leaving me to rely on my memory (which is close to nothing when it comes to Korean names!). Oh well, it could have been much worse and I could have lost all my photographs instead which I'm so glad has not happened to me yet. Have a great weekend everyone :)
