The Week On Instagram @StyleSophomore...

Another fun filled week in Taipei with lots of food, drinks, meeting with friends, assisting James with another fashion shoot, and the usual street style shooting. Some photos from the week...

1) At home, well I actually just got back home from my first Chinese Mandarin lesson when James snapped this!, 2) Stay Real shop sign in East district, 3) Our little workspace at home, 4) Found one of my old stickers in East district.

1) Dinner at a Japanese Izakaya style restaurant, 2) Pre-dinner Apple Martini at T.G.I Fridays, 3) Ice cream, cotton candy & espresso at Cafe Alley, 4) Oreo smoothie, Americano at Cafe Alley.

Me being test shot for James before another fashion shoot.

Shooting in action! At the Shih Chien University library basement doing a shoot, this time with a cool Taiwanese designer eve_y_chen.

I realized while looking through my Instagram that the majority of photos I post are food or drink-related! So if you like food photos or if you just live for food like I do, then follow me on Instagram @StyleSophomore. Hope you've all had a great Sunday!

The Week On Instagram @StyleSophomore...

A random selection of photos from my Instagram this week. Just when I thought this year has felt like it has gone on forever, these last few months have actually seemed to have flown by. I can't believe how fast the time is going right now. In two weeks we will be back in Tokyo already!

1) A shop sign in Zhongxiao Dunhua East district, 2) Pretty plants in ShiDa, 3) Drinks at Costumice Cafe, 4) Potato wedges at Costumice Cafe.

Photographing on a rainy day out at the weekend market.

1) Back streets lined with shops and scooters in Zhongxiao Fuxing, 2) Outside a Taiwanese lottery shop near our house, 3) A typical street food scene in ShiDa, 4) Personalised scooter plates.

Rusty bikes parked on the side of the road and down the back streets of ShiDa.

Amongst all the old and new, traditional and modern mish-mash of Taipei, I still love capturing the simple and typical street scenes, the real essence of Taipei. Whether it's bikes parked so neatly at the end of a quiet lane, or if it's Aunties and Uncles eating lunch at the local street vendor, it's the things that you can't see or get anywhere else that I'm drawn to photograph.

The Week On Instagram @StyleSophomore...

Some Instagram shots from the week just gone... And there's a lot of food in this one but then again I wouldn't be in Taipei if I wasn't eating every other second of the day! It's just what I like to do.

1) Six magazines by Comme des Garcons on sale at roomsLINK Taipei, 2) Reliving my teenage days and making friendship bracelets until my hands get sore (I now have a use for all my spare buttons that I hold on to), 3) Taipei has some of the nicest bakeries in Asia. I found this one called Mymore across the road from Huashan Creative Park and they had samples for all the breads. And they all tasted amazing!, 4) The bottom half of my outfit and Taipei's distict pink road markings.

1) Hazelnut latte seems to be my go-to coffee at the moment!, 2) Crispy waffles with banana, chocolate and vanilla ice cream, 3) Interesting waffles with sticky rice, red bean custard and green tea ice cream, 4) At Kooka Coffee cafe.

I got my photo taken on the opening day of roomsLINK Taipei. Thanks Gallerina Off Duty for the photo!

1) Dinner at a traditional Taiwanese beef noodle place, 2) Side dishes, beef noodle soup and beef noodles with sauces, 3) At Ice Monster! - Cute business cards, Litta and her sad defeated face, Mung bean & grass jelly avalanche and cute napkins, 4) My "Bubble Milk Tea Sensation" which was just like a deconstructed frozen bubble milk tea. I found out about Ice Monster before I got here and I'm so glad I finally went there. Definitely going back for more!

I have truly eaten well this week and I sense that there is more good food still to come! For instant updates on the things I get up to in between street style shooting, follow me on Instagram @stylesophomore. Or you can click here to bring up my Instagram on your computer :)

The Week On Instagram @StyleSophomore...

Touched down in Taipei on Wednesday night and I'm so happy to be back! I really didn't know what it'd be like having just spent the last 6 and a half months living in Tokyo and Seoul, but straight away I'm reminded of how friendly, welcoming, helpful and smiley the people are here in Taipei and that's enough for me to remember why I love this place so much. For me, it's totally the people that define a city or country (followed closely by food of course!) and Taipei is definitely right up there on both occasions.

This year I think is going to be one big blur when it's finally over. It has been the longest year ever for us and it feels like a lifetime ago that we were living in Singapore. Since then, it's been 3 months in Taipei, 2.5 months in Seoul, 3 months in Tokyo, 1 month in Seoul and short trips to Hong Kong and Osaka amongst it all. Now its 1 month in Taipei and to round things up for the year, Tokyo in December before we do it all again next year with some different cities thrown into the mix!

Life on the road, I don't think I could do it any other way (though I wouldn't mind a portable wardrobe to carry around with me!) Some Instagram photos from the week just gone...

1) Tee shirt and scarf weather at the moment, 2) The view from our balcony on the 12th floor, 3) Our living area and I'm totally loving the abundance of natural light 4) Colourful New Taiwan Dollars.

1) Scooters as far as you can see, 2) Down the back streets, 3) A typical street scene with Taipei101 in the distance 4) Sunset view from our apartment.

1) First home cooked dinner in the new place, 2) A really cute pug in the supermarket!, 3) My spontaneous piercing that I got done in ShiDa, 4) Bubble tea! - what I've been hanging out for these last 6 months (because I couldn't bring myself to pay for overpriced bubble tea in Tokyo and Seoul which never tastes half as good anyway!).

Jeong Yeon, Seoul

I always admire people who manage to incorporate a bit of DIY into their outfits, especially when they do such an amazing job at it. Like Jeong Yeon here, who took a simple red coat (owned by her mother for over 20 years) and reworked it into something quite unique and interesting to look at. That is some skills right there and I love the whole shape and cut. I definitely want to better my tailoring skills once we settle down and I get my sewing machine back!
